Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 August 2026

At bethefrontpage, we believe in making people feel special, and that includes how we handle your personal information. Creating a personalised newspaper gift means entrusting us with your most precious memories, stories, and photographs. We take this responsibility seriously and promise to treat your data with the same care and respect we put into creating your special gift.

This privacy notice will help you understand how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and use our services. We’ll explain what information we collect, how we use it, how we keep it secure, and the conditions under which we might share it with others.

Legal compliance: This policy complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or new legal requirements.

We are the data controller for your personal information, which means we determine how and why your personal data is processed. We’re committed to protecting your privacy and making sure your experience with us feels as special as the gifts we help you create.

Our Production Partnership

We manage your entire customer experience in-house, from design through to framing, packaging, and delivery.

For the physical printing of your newspaper, we work with carefully selected local print partners. We have personally vetted these partners, agreed all materials including paper quality, ink, and technical specifications, and conducted multiple test prints to confirm the finished product meets our standards.

We provide our print partners with a print-ready PDF file containing your newspaper design and an order reference number. We do not share your personal contact details, payment information, delivery address, or any other personal data with them. Once printed, we personally collect your newspaper and handle all framing, packaging, and dispatch ourselves.

Your order remains under our direct management throughout the entire process, and we remain fully responsible and accountable for every aspect of your gift.

Your Rights Matter

  • Your consent when you’ve explicitly agreed (like opting in to marketing)
  • Contract performance to fulfil your order and provide our service
  • Legal obligations when the law requires it (like keeping tax records)
  • Legitimate interests for running our business efficiently, as long as your rights aren’t negatively affected
  • Recognised legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(ea) — introduced by Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) for specific purposes such as fraud prevention

If we need your permission for something, we’ll always ask clearly and make it easy for you to say yes or no.

How We Share Your Information

We respect your privacy deeply. We only share your information when it’s necessary to deliver your gift or when the law requires it. We never sell your personal data — ever.

We use Facebook Pixel and Google Ads tags on our website to measure advertising performance. When you accept advertising cookies, anonymised data about your visit may be shared with Meta Platforms Ireland Limited and Google Ireland Limited. We do not share your name, email address, or order details with these platforms directly. See their privacy policies for how they process this data.

Third-Party Print Partners

To produce the highest quality prints, we work with carefully selected third-party print specialists who act as data processors under our instructions.

What we share: The PDF file of your personalised newspaper, order reference number, and print specifications.

What we do NOT share: Your personal contact details, payment information, or any information beyond what’s necessary for printing.

Print partners’ obligations: Our print partners are contractually bound to use your information only for printing your specific order, keep everything secure and confidential, delete your PDF files after successful printing (typically within 7 days), and comply with UK GDPR.

Payment Processors

Your payment is handled by Stripe and PayPal, who use bank-level security (PCI-DSS compliance). See their privacy policies: Stripe | PayPal

Delivery Couriers

We share basic delivery information (recipient’s name, delivery address, contact telephone number, tracking reference) with reputable courier services such as Royal Mail or DPD.

Service Providers

We work with trusted partners for website hosting (UK/EU servers), email services, analytics tools (like Google Analytics with anonymisation), customer service platforms, and marketing platforms (only if you’ve opted in). All are contractually required to protect your information under UK GDPR.

Legal Requirements

Very rarely, we might need to share information if required by law, court order, or government authority; to protect our legal rights; to prevent fraud; or to protect the safety of our customers and staff.

If Our Business Changes Hands

If we ever sell or merge our business, your information might transfer to the new owner. We’ll let you know before this happens. Your rights under data protection law will remain protected.

What We Promise We'll Never Do

  • We’ll never sell your personal data to anyone, for any reason
  • We’ll never share your photos or stories publicly without your explicit written permission
  • We’ll never use your precious memories for any purpose other than creating your gift
  • We’ll never spam you (you can opt out of marketing anytime)
  • We’ll never share your personal contact details or payment information with our print partners

Your trust is everything to us. We protect it fiercely.

Keeping Your Information Secure

The photos, stories, names, dates, and little details you share with us are what make each newspaper personal. We treat that information with care, because it belongs to you and the people you are celebrating.

Protecting Your Details Online

Information sent to and from our website is protected using secure HTTPS/TLS encryption. This helps keep your details protected while you use our website, upload photos, personalise your newspaper, and place an order.

Protecting Your Photos and Personalisation

Customer uploads, personalisation content, previews, and print-ready files are stored using trusted hosting and storage services.

We use private storage for customer files, and access to photos and generated files is controlled through secure links, backend checks, and limited access permissions. This helps make sure your content is available when needed to create your newspaper, while keeping it protected from unnecessary access.

How We Limit Access

Only authorised people and systems can access customer information, and only where it is needed to create your order, provide support, operate the website, or meet legal obligations.

Our technical protections include:

  • Secure customer accounts and production cookies
  • Private storage for uploaded photos and generated files
  • Time-limited secure links for customer files
  • Access checks for customer and admin actions
  • Request validation and sanitisation
  • Rate limiting on sensitive parts of the website
  • Security headers and browser protection controls
  • Careful handling of logs to avoid storing sensitive details unnecessarily

Platform and Network Protection

Our website and backend run on managed infrastructure with edge protection services. These services help protect the site with encrypted connections, traffic filtering, caching controls, and DDoS mitigation.

Customer-specific pages, account areas, checkout routes, and API responses are handled with private caching rules to reduce the chance of personal information being stored where it should not be.

Working With Trusted Partners

Some parts of your order are supported by trusted service providers, such as payment processing, hosting, email, analytics, storage, and print fulfilment. We choose partners carefully and require appropriate data protection safeguards where they process personal data for us.

Payment Security

We do not store full payment card details on our systems. Payments are handled securely by our payment processor.

Our Internal Safeguards

We protect customer data through practical working practices, including:

  • Limiting access to people who need it
  • Collecting only the information needed to create and deliver your order
  • Reviewing the partners who help us provide the service
  • Using appropriate agreements with processors under UK GDPR
  • Following clear procedures for handling security concerns

You’re always in control. To stop receiving promotional emails:

Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for adults (16+) and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

You can absolutely create newspapers celebrating children. When you include information about a child, you’re confirming that you have parental responsibility or guardian authority, proper consent to share their photos, and that the gift will be used appropriately.

If you believe we’ve accidentally collected information from someone under 16 without proper consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@bethefrontpage.com.

International Data Transfers

We’re a UK-based business and produce all our newspapers in the UK. Your data is stored and processed primarily within the United Kingdom.

Some data processing occurs internationally through service providers. When we transfer data internationally, we only transfer to countries the UK government has approved, use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and implement additional security measures when needed.

Our third-party print partners are based in the UK. Your design files are processed and printed domestically.
